Why Serve?

The primary role of the altar server is to assist the priest during the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. The Eucharist is “the source and summit of the Christian life” – CCC 1324.  We have a special need for altar servers to assist at our Sunday Masses, funerals Masses and at Eucharistic Adoration and Benediction.

What do altar servers do?

Altar servers assist the priests during Mass. They carry the cross, processional candles, incense, and censer, hold the book for the priest, assist at offertory with the gifts, hold the lavabo for the washing of the priests hands, ring the altar bell, pray and sing with the congregation. Altar servers are very reverent as they serve in the most sacred space of our Church – the sanctuary.

Who Can Serve?

Young men who are discerning a vocation to the priesthood are encouraged to serve. We also encourage any student 3rd grade thru 8th grade child to serve at Mass!
If there are adult men of the parish interested in serving, they are also welcome to take training and be on the schedule.

If you have a 3rd thru 8th grader interested in serving, please contact the Religious Education office at 810-659-8556 or click here to email the Religious Education office.

Adult men interested in serving should contact the Parish Office at 810-659-2501 to sign up for training.
