Many members of St. Robert Bellarmine Parish live in skilled nursing care facilities, assisted care facilities or unable to travel to and from church to attend Mass.
Currently, a core group of Extraordinary Ministers also serve as Friendly Visitors. Each has adopted one, or two parishioners. They routinely take the Blessed Sacrament to the parishioners whom they have volunteered to serve. Most visit weekly, some visit every other week.
If you prefer to volunteer in a group, several teams have formed and each team visits a care facility, taking the Blessed Sacrament to anywhere from 12 to 50 parishioners. Mass is celebrated with the residents of Fostrian Manor and Fostrian Court on the 2nd Wednesday of each month. A team of Friendly Visitor Extraordinary Ministers visits Fostrian Manor and Court every Tuesday morning. On the 3rd Wednesday of each month, Mass is celebrated with the residents of American House. On the 4th Wednesday of each month Mass is celebrated at the Elmcrest Village, Senior Apartment Complex. Other Friendly Visitors visit the Living Joy Assisted Living Facility every Monday morning.
Please prayerfully consider if you’re being called to serve the people of St. Robert Bellarmine in this beautiful and rewarding ministry. For more information and to get started please call Tim Cassady, the Adult Formation Director, at (810) 659-2501 or click here to email Tim.
“Christ Has No Body”
Christ has no body but yours,
No hands, no feet on earth but yours,
Yours are the eyes with which he looks
Compassion on this world,
Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good,
Yours are the hands, with which he blesses all the world.
Yours are the hands, yours are the feet,
Yours are the eyes, you are his body.
Christ has no body now but yours,
No hands, no feet on earth but yours,
Yours are the eyes with which he looks
compassion on this world.
Christ has no body now on earth but yours.
– St. Teresa of Avila
